HomePod Mini and Netgear MR60 Mesh Network

This is a follow-up to HomePod Mini - “Some features may not wor… - Apple Community


Like so many people having issues using the Netgear Nighthawk Mesh Network (specifically MR60 in my case) with Apple TV relying on the HomePod Mini as the Audio Output, I had many inconsistent issues with the connectivity between devices.


After following the initial advice from the above community advice, it appears that my issues have been resolved. To reiterate the solution that worked for me, I did the following:


  1. Open the Netgear Nighthawk administration page via a web browser (not the iOS Nighthawk app). If you are not sure of your main node’s IP address, open the Nighthawk App on your phone, click on the black-box icon, then once again under the “Network Map” diagram, then click the “Details” tab, and enter the address under “IP Address” in your browser.
  2. In your browser, after you’ve logged in, click the “ADVANCED” tab under “My Router: …”.
  3. Click “Advanced Setup” in the left-hand column, then click “Wireless Settings”

Under “Advanced Wireless Settings (2.4GHz b/g/n/ax)”, remove the checked box for “Enable 20/40 MHz Coexistence”


Finish by clicking the “Apply” button at the bottom right corner.


In the previously mentioned article, they mentioned checking the box “Enable MU-MIMO” further down the same page I described. I have not yet done this, and my Apple TV maintained the audio connection. If I later find that this was also necessary, I’ll add a comment to this page. I hope this helps save time and frustration for others.
