GMC - Entertainment Screen resetting

My 21 GMC Sierra touch screen is resetting by its self while driving. I found an article this is related icar play with iPhones. I am on XR and just did an update. Wondering if there is an issue with newest update and Apple car play. Anyone else seen this or know of a fix? All softwares are updated by GMC dealer and most recent iPhone.

iPhone XR, iOS 16

Hey GdHelp1234a,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Is this only happening when you're connected to your auto via CarPlay? If so, these steps may help to resolve it: If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support

First, make sure that your country or region supports CarPlay and that your car supports CarPlay. If you're unsure if your car supports CarPlay, contact the vehicle manufacturer.

Make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS. If your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS, follow these steps—checking CarPlay after each step:

1. Check your connection to your CarPlay stereo:
• If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
• If you have a wireless connection, make sure that Bluetooth is turned on on your iPhone under Settings > Bluetooth. Then go to Settings > Wi-Fi, and make sure that Wi-Fi is also turned on. Tap the CarPlay network, and check that Auto-Join is turned on.
2. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display and select it.
3. Restart your iPhone and your car.
4. Make sure that Siri is on.
5. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is on, tap Allowed Apps, and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
6. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
7. Make sure that your CarPlay stereo is using the latest firmware from the car manufacturer. Check your car's manual for more information.

If you still have issues connecting to CarPlay, contact Apple Support.

Let us know how it goes.

Take care!

This is definitely an iPhone issue. After spending a lot of money at dealership the vehicle only resets the entertainment screen while connected to Bluetooth. I disconnected my phone for 2 weeks with no issues, now I am 1 week into utilizing the USB cable with no issues. Fairly sure a recent update is causing this issue or setting which I don’t know was changed in the update. I am continuing to test with 1-2 week intervals after each change.

GdHelp1234a,

Thanks for keeping us updated.

Just to confirm, have you had a chance to go through the steps listed in the previous reply?

If so, and if still having issues with CarPlay not working as expected when connecting your iPhone though Bluetooth, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly from this link here: Contact - Official Apple Support

They would be the best option to take a closer look into the issue from here.

Cheers!
