Transferring pictures from iPhoto to Photos

After transferring all data/files from old MacBook Pro to new one, when I open Photos now not all pictures from iPhoto appear in my library. What is causing this to happen and is there any way to find those missing photos?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.13

Then look on your new Mac for your iPhoto Libraries. By default they will be in the Pictures folder.

If your new Mac came with macOS 13 Ventura, it can no longer open your iPhoto Libraries to convert them to Photos Libraries. The last system able to convert iPhoto Libraries to Photos Libraries has been macOS 12 Monterey.

On Ventura you can only try to to launch Photos, and when it come up empty, go to the menu "File > Import", then select your iPhoto Library for import and wait. Photos will now import your photos and videos, but you will lose the albums and keywords and other metadata.

You will get a better result, if you do the migration from iPhoto to Photos on a Mac with an older system. Try to open your iPhoto Library in Photos on your old Mac, then copy it to your new Mac. This will save the albums and the event.
