website icons in safari 16.3

Strange thing is the bookmark bar down the left hand side does display the icons, so its just the icons on the start page.

I have the same problem. Just finished re-installing Big Sur and I am now on Safari version 14.1.2 and the problem is still there. So it looks like the problem is not related to Safari 16.3 for me.

in my case even the bookmarks on the side bar is a hit and miss .. some have icons but most don’t. let’s wait for a Safari update

After my update, all Favorite's icons turned gray and since I have a lot of them and recognize them by image this is a pretty big inconvenience. Any solutions?

iMac late 2014, upgrade to 16.3 and OS X 11.73 BigSUR same issues, and I have a lot of icons which I use everyday by recognition. Contacted Apple Support....No help

I have got the same problem and I re-installed the OSX Big Sur 11.7.3 (Ctrl+R) and Safari with (Ctrl+R once again) and still the website icons are greyed out.

I have tried everything to correct this problem, but alas to no avail. As stated by many people in this forum Apple support is no help whatsoever.

For what it's worth, this appears to be specific to Safari 16.3 on Big Sur 11.7.3. I've got an M1 MacBook Air running 12.6.3 Monterey, and the Safari 16.3 upgrade doesn't exhibit this problem.

SAME HERE! APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS!

Or you'll make me migrate to Firefox or Chrome!

I am experiencing the same issue (see attached screenshot) ever since I updated to Big Sur 11.7.3 (20G1116) and Safari 16.3 (16614.4.6.11.4, 16614) on MacBook Air 13 Early 2014.

This is the same here after updating Safari on Big Sur 11.7.3 ( Safari 16.3 )

Web site icons in safari 11.7.3 are grey without the normal logo.

Worser and worser: After today's (Feb13) Safari update, most of the sites that did show favicons now *do not*. One exception: apple.com has a favicon. Thanks, guys.

Same here, Safari update did not solve the grey icons problem.

Yes, they've addressed the problem and as far as I can tell, things are as they were. Icons now showing. Needed to update both Big Sur and Safari...took an hour or so.
