homepod mini temperature sensor not responding after update to 16.3

I have exactly the same problem: all iPhones, iPads and HomePods updated to iOS 16.3, after waiting for 8 hours overnight, the temperature and humidity sensors on all 3 HomePods were not activated, saying "not responding".

After reading this article, within 3 seconds I decided to give it a try: directly removed my Home, waited for a few seconds so that all HomePods recognized themselves no longer belonged to any Home, rooms were recreated, all HomePods were being added back to different rooms.

After a few minutes, left HomePods to be configured, HomePods became available to be used. Temperature and humidity sensors still had to be calibrated. I started streaming audio and ignored them. An hour later I remembered them and checked: with temperature and humidity readings!!

If all your HomePods have no temperature and humidity readings, delete and re-create Home directly. The whole process could be completed quickly.

I confirmed this by asking Siri - and she correctly told me the temp and humidity readings. I just asked “Hey Siri, what’s the temperature in the [living room]?” (Substitute the room your HomePod is configured in.) Then I did the same for humidity. Magically, the Home app on my various devices started reporting temp and humidity again.

Removing a single HomePod (of 3 in the house) and re-adding brought all of them back for me. I wasn't looking forward to rebuilding my 60+ device HomeKit setup, fortunately one HomePod was all it took.

This morning I was thinking maybe the sensors are activated but not showing in the app.

Asking Siri give me the information, that the sensors are working , not really clear because in the answer I get a mix of the HomePod mini sensor and the eve thermo in the same room.

So the problem is showing in the app, and after being sure that the iPad has also iOS 16.3 I can now see in the setup of the HomePod mini a menu rule about accessoires, and I can see the temperature and humidity.

Only problem is not on the first page of the home app, there I see in the section climate only my eve thermo’s.

And when I read about this, then is this not correct. But maybe because I have an old HomePod what’s is my primary HomeKit bridge? But maybe there is an other reason.

Try removing the HomePod from your home, then do a factory reset on the HomePod (power cycle, press and hold the top) then add back to your home.

Problem was fixed for me. After updating to iOS 16.3.1, temperature and humidity started appearing automatically.

I was able to fix the issue by removing the `home` entirely and re-configuring everything from scratch, luckily I didn't have many other devices otherwise I would have been quite angry.

To note that, also after this process, the sensors were still showing "not responding", without any mention about calibration etc.. they just started working after a few minutes. I mean, it was cumbersome.

Try to get an answer from Siri asking the temperature or humidity, my problem was ‘not showing’ in the app, but I have solved after asking, without building from scratch, I am happy for that ; not for the way to get the info in the app, that can only doing many steps, surely with a stereo pair of HomePods mini

I was experiencing the same; what finally worked for me was removing the entire home and redo the configuration from scratch.

Give it at least 30 minutes. May even take a little longer.

it's happening to me as well, waited for almost 18 hours, did a couple of reboots, and also a new initialization. Still "not responding"
