Airport Extreme Bridge Mode Issues

Hi all,

I have been trying to set up my airport extreme to extend my existing network that has a non-apple router. I have the router connected to the airport extreme via ethernet (on the bottom port of the airport) and have set it up as a new network and enabled "bridge mode".

Initially, I had 3 errors: 1 about not having ethernet connected, another about no internet connection and a third about DNS. After a while the ethernet error went away, but i was still left with the ip address and DNS errors. I tried manually adding 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to the DNS but it went back to the same 3 errors except the DNS one. What could i be doing wrong? I have set this up before but idk if i'm forgetting something or doing something wrong.

Please start over and perform a Hard Reset on the AirPort Extreme. To do that, power up the AirPort and let it run for a minute, then hold in the reset button on the back of the AirPort for 7-8 seconds and then release. Allow a full minute for the AirPort to restart to a slow blinking amber light status.

Make sure that the Ethernet cable connects from one of the LAN <--> Ethernet ports on your main router to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort Extreme.

Open AirPort Utility on your Mac (Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility)

Click on the Other Wi-Fi Devices button

Click on AirPort Extreme xxxxxx

The next window will open up with the current settings for the AirPort Extreme. Things will look the same as the example below except that you will see your AirPort Extreme pictured.....not an AirPort Express.

Network Name.....Type in the exact name of the Wi-Fi network that your main router is using

Base Station Name......Type in a device name that you want to call the AirPort Extreme

Password......Type in the exact same Wi-Fi password that your main router is using

Verify.....Type in the same password again to confirm

Click Next and wait a minute for the AirPort Extreme to restart with the current settings. Should be a green light on the AirPort Extreme now.

You are done.
