Apple Ultra Watch 9.3 update battery drain (bleeding out)

Anyone else have an Ultra 9.3 update in the last 36 hours that is bleeding your battery? I was averaging 3-4 days between charges as I do not use GPS much and don’t have cellular activated. But it just died before I made it to 24 HOURS from full charge.

For the full procedure see below

If it still discharges after all Watch resets it suggests it could be an incompatibility in the software in the Watch and the iPhone with the latest OS releases. What I would do is

-Unpair and erase the Watch

-Backup the iphone

-Restore iphone to factory settings

-Set up the iphone as new without restoring the backup. Install only your essential email accounts, no extra software, no social media

-Pair the Watch to the iphone

-Run them both like that for 24 hours and see how long the battery lasts.

Only when that test is over can you repeat the first three actions then set up the phone but restoring the backup this time.

If the Watch lasts longer the first time than the second time then it proved it is software on the iPhone causing it. In that case you would have to export as much data as possible such as n-sync’d photos and documents out of the phone to a place of safety such as iCloud before repeating the restore and set up as new process.

Yeah I agree. Just been trying to avoid the “nuclear” option since it’s so ridiculous that it suddenly decided to be weird out of the blue.

FWIW my wife’s watch/phone are doing it too. And also it repeated even after getting a new watch (had a series 5, and now series 8). We definitely don’t use the same apps so something is pretty weird here since the OS update

Curious to know if you have Optimized Battery Level turned on on your Ultra? Open the settings App on the watch itself. Tap Battery and see if its turned on. Then I'd like to know when you get up in the morning and take your watch off its charger (do you charge your watch at night while you sleep?), what is the battery percentage when you start your day?

Optimized Battery Level would have kicked in after the first 30 days of wearing your watch. And typically, you would start the day around 80% (not 100%). What I'm curious to know is if this is why you think you may be having excessive battery drain?

I’m the original poster of the 9.2 battery drain post on the forum. After getting my ULTRA to work fine for 4 months it suddenly stopped holding charge again. I’ve got a new watch sent to me, installed from a back up and it’s still draining excessively. I really do not want to have to restore my iphone. But I’ll try setting up as a new watch shortly. I’m travelling abroad in a few hours so this is beyond inconvenient.

Its quite ridiculous to have bought a premium product, two in fact -14 pro max & ULTRA and have to deal with this..

In my case. I have optimized battery turned on. I didnt charge the watch every night prior to the update as it easily lasted 3 days for me. However, the last few i have been charging overnight as the level is at or below 25% at the end of one day! The watch is at 100% in the morning and yesterday when I posted to this thread it went down far more than is should. This morning I did the charge. It went to the optimized amount of 80%. I removed it at 730am it is now 945 am it has lost 5%. Ill try the reset today. Im am not interested in wiping my phone.

i know, I hated having to discontinue my cellular option. But it literally did me no good. When I needed to use cellular on the watch, the watch was almost dead. I am pretty certain there is some setting on my phone, or the software update on the phone that is causing it. I remove all non-essential apps from the watch. I even tried disconnecting the watch from the phone. When i disconnected the phone from the watch (by turning the bluetooth off) it was great battery life. i will try that again today to see if it repeats.
