Apple Ultra Watch 9.3 update battery drain (bleeding out)

Anyone else have an Ultra 9.3 update in the last 36 hours that is bleeding your battery? I was averaging 3-4 days between charges as I do not use GPS much and don’t have cellular activated. But it just died before I made it to 24 HOURS from full charge.

Apple Watch Ultra, watchOS 9

For the full procedure see below

If it still discharges after all Watch resets it suggests it could be an incompatibility in the software in the Watch and the iPhone with the latest OS releases. What I would do is

-Unpair and erase the Watch

-Backup the iphone

-Restore iphone to factory settings

-Set up the iphone as new without restoring the backup. Install only your essential email accounts, no extra software, no social media

-Pair the Watch to the iphone

-Run them both like that for 24 hours and see how long the battery lasts.

Only when that test is over can you repeat the first three actions then set up the phone but restoring the backup this time.

If the Watch lasts longer the first time than the second time then it proved it is software on the iPhone causing it. In that case you would have to export as much data as possible such as n-sync’d photos and documents out of the phone to a place of safety such as iCloud before repeating the restore and set up as new process.

If it was a software issue from the OS update, it would be effecting EVERYONE. It's not. Do the Forced Restart procedure I outlined above.

I've had my Ultra on my wrist since getting up this morning. It's been on my wrist for about 5 hours. My remaining battery is 93% after 5 hours on my wrist.

I Force Restart after every OS update to iPhone/iPad/Apple Watch and Macbook Pro update and NEVER - EVER have battery drain issues.

Apple doesn't support downgrading OS, so there is no path backwards.

Not necessarily. A new OS can have a very different impact on different devices depending on the settings in each one, the apps installed, and connections enabled, among the parameters that could affect this ...

I have already done what you suggested ... no improvement. I did, recharged back to 100%, and it is draining again. 2 battery charges were gone in 24h ...

Support is now offering express replacement (I have apple care+ for the watch ultra)... let's see what will happen.

I had no idea about this forum but have noticed a lot of negative effects from the 9.3 update. Not only does the battery drain like crazy, but my health info doesn’t sync anymore. So I had been troubleshooting the health thing, I noticed it first. Then I notice I am charging twice a day. Before bedtime “10am” and then again before the work day is even over. I have to throw it on the charger around 4pm. It’s notifying me it’s at 10%. Same usage and I am a person of routine. I don’t get many notifications. This is a real issue.

It happens with me too. After the first update of the watch and after the update in iPhone to 16.something the watch that were times in the beginning that it drained in less the 12 yours the 100%. I’ve forced restarted with the iPhone and alone and the maximum was 3 days, now is less the 3 days. But in the beginning when I bought the Apple Watch ultra 3,5/4 days easy. I’m very disappointed with. I’ve bought the ultra only for the upgraded capacity in battery and know I’ve to charge in 2,5 days. More one day that the Apple Watch 8 that I had.

I don’t know what the answer is, but I can tell you I have reset my watch to new, no restore from backup. And I have reset my phone. Still having drain issues. Got to figure this out. I turned off all apps on the watch that I could. Still No luck. I even talked to apple support and had diagnostic run on phone and watch. No issues with the watch battery. It’s brand new. I cancelled cellular and disabled raise watch.
