Find My battery drain after 16.3 upgrade

I know that there was previously issues with Find My causing battery drain. Seems to have been resolved and I never had the issue until now. I just loaded 16.3 on my iPad and iPhone 13 Pro. iPad drained completely. After getting enough charge back in it I looked at the battery drain. 95% from Find My in the last 24 hours. My iPhone was 18%. Not as dramatic as the iPad but now my number two battery consumer.

Anyone else seeing this.

These standard hint are useless. I also charge my iPad to 100%, close my Magic Keyboard in „do not disturb“ focus, after one day of no usage the battery is almost empty. I check the battery usage, only “find my” app is consuming 2-3% each hour, no other app is listed as consumer. When I disable Bluetooth, everything is fine. I guess is has something to do with my 3 AirTags around me attached on my bike, wallet and keys. All AirTags are on the latest firmware.

Protect & Prolong life of your iPhone's Battery:

  1. About the battery usage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch ...
  2. Batteries - Maximising Performance - Apple (IN)
  3. iPhone Battery and Performance

Try some of these options too.

  1. Avoid Screen Mirroring
  2. Put on Low Power Mode
  3. Put Auto Lock On (1 min):- with low power mode it will be 30 Sec
  4. Put Auto Answer Off
  5. Disable Push notifications for apps you do not use often
  6. Keep your iPhone Face down to prevent notifications to light up screen
  7. Enable Auto Brightness:- Settings > General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations > Auto-Brightness [Enable]
  8. Manually lower brightness from Control Center
  9. If you Want to watch continuous Video. Stream it on TV or a Monitor
  10. Don't force close apps; Apps which are not on frontend screen are paused by the system to save energy. Apps require more energy to re-launch. Apps which are open in the background use large memory is a myth and quitting them is counterproductive
  11. Location services to be allowed only while using the app
  12. Set your iPhone to fetch email and calendar data from internet less frequently
  13. Turning off Background App Refresh
  14. Charge before it drops below 20-30%
  15. Try connecting to trusted Wifi where ever available in stead of Cellular
  16. Enable Airplane mode in areas with bad cellular and wifi coverage. Your phone keeps trying for reconnection with the missing / weak network. This uses lot of energy
  17. Switch off Wifi & Bluetooth while in Roaming or Not in Range
  18. Enable "Wifi Assist" : Settings > Cellular or Settings > Mobile Data > Wi-Fi Assist [Enable]
  19. Periodically Check your Battery Health (Settings > Battery > Battery Health)

I’ve been having both Find My (primarily, biggest culprit) and now Siri as the only two background apps running down both my iPhone 13 Pro and iPad mini 6 batteries ever since upgrading from iOS 15.7.2 directly to iOS 16.2, and not improved with the iOS 16.3 update. This is with background app refresh disabled, Listen for Hey Siri disabled, and Find My fully configured with two AirTags and the ability to track my own watch/phone with my wife and I sharing each other’s location. Unpairing AirTags and disabling shared tracking did not resolve them, and I’ve naturally restarted all devices and even reset iOS Network Configurations to no avail. Further, graphical animation lag & stutter are persistent and unacceptable for these still like-new devices <2 year on. iOS 16 was hardly worth the “upgrade,” but does Apple even care?

Facing similar issue on my newly bought device iPhone 13 after updating to iOS 16.3 my battery drained overnight from 60% to 20%. facing really bad experience with my new device, don't know when they are going to fix this issue, as it's affecting device battery health and sure thing is apple not going to fix battery health for free, we need a battery performance update for this really soon.

My husband and I updated our I phone and Apple Watches with the 16.3 and same problem. Can’t wear my watch for only a few hours and is dead. Same with our phones. just tried to call Apple support and they cut us off when we told them about the problem. Not very good publicity for Apple. We have loved our watches. My husbands watch is only 1 month old.

Same and infuriating problem with my 2021 iPhone SE. I turned off several valuable features, which helped somewhat, but the battery life is significantly reduced. The update affected my iPad Air 5th gen to a lesser degree. Come on Apple, a year-old iPhone should not have this kind of battery drain and turning off features that I previously used to accommodate your lousy update is a poor solution.

Well I had the worst experience at istore today. I have been noticing a due battery drain in my iPhone 12. He claims it software problem so I rebooted my phone and apparently see what happens if it doesn’t even though my phone has a warranty they won’t change it for a new one . I left there and I just just got home after a hour drive no use of the phone and it’s again fallen to 70% from 100. It’s just a disappointing to be treated like this when there is clearly a problem but if I were to just go and buy a new phone without reporting a problem they would be more helpful. Just a shame
