If the charging port is damaged, your device probably needs service. Let your device charge for a half hour. If your device is still unresponsive, force restart your device: iPhone 8 or later and iPhone SE (2nd generation): Press and quickly release the volume up button.

Are you using the Apple USB cable and is the power adapter also made by Apple?
Did you check if the charging port is free of any debris or lint?
If it does not charge after being connected for 20min, you'll have to get it diagnosed by an Authorized Apple Service Provider:

It has not charged yet. It was charging as of 4 hours ago but then I woke up to a dead phone. When I used the find my phone app, it showed my phone location 4 hours ago
How old is the iPhone? Depending on the age and use, your battery might be defective.
