Turn off Macbook Pro with Touch ID

For at least 20 years I've been shutting down my Macs with Control-Eject, Return.

Got an M2 pro13" and that works fine with an external keyboard, but apparently this can't be done with the built-in keyboard. Especially when in a rush or on transit and you need to shut down without fiddling around with a mouse, why can this not be done? Using the "Power" button will cause a force shutdown.

The touch-bar could display "Restart - Sleep - Cancel - Shutdown" options when "control or function - power" pressed.
