Having issues getting my Mediacom email account to update on my iPhone and iPad

I'm on IOS16.3 and have been having issues for a month or so where my Mediacom email intermittently will update and retrieve new email on my iPhone & iPad. Occasionally it works, most times it "Checks for mail" a minute or two and then gives me the error "The IMAP server "mail.mediacombb.net" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered correct information in the "Incoming Mail Server" field." As I said part of the time it will update and retrieve mail. I have tried resetting my modem, restarting my devices, deleting the accounts and reloading them, etc. For right now reloading the account on my iPad seems to have helped for the last hour, but my iPhone is no better at all. Mediacom claims Apple has told them it is a bug from the last update.

Hello RJ5526,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Have you reached out to your email provider? If not, you can try that next:

"Contact your email provider or system administrator

  1. Contact your email provider or check their status webpage to see if there's a service outage.
  2. Ask your email provider or system administrator if you turned on any security features or restrictions, like two-step verification, for your email account. You might need a special password or may need to request authorization from your email provider to send and receive email on your device.
  3. Check your email account settings with your email provider or system administrator to make sure that they're correct."

More details can be found here: If you can't receive email on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the issue persists, it may be best to reach out to Apple and continue working with them on this issue.

You can do so by going to Get Support

Cheers!

RJ5526,

As you're receiving the error "The IMAP server "mail.mediacombb.net" is not responding." it appears the issue is with the mail providers server.

To further isolate you can be sure your devices are connected to a known working Wi-Fi network before attempting to access that account. Connect to Wi-Fi on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Additionally, you can test with a different email account like iCloud or another third party.

Either way, glad to hear you were able to resolve the issue. If you need help with this issue in the future, reach out to Apple Support directly.

I had done all the verifications and contacted my emailed my provider. I have since deleted the account and re-adided it . It took two try’s because it said it could not connect with the email server. After the second try it connected and worked. It seems to be OK now. Mediacom says they have been told it is an update bug with Apple, is that true?
