Does the HDMI port on the MacBook Pro M2's support Dolby Atmos output?

I understand that the MacBook Pro's are capable of Atmos playback, but I've been trying to figure out if the built-in HDMI port on the MacBook Pro M2's support Dolby Atmos output.

sound output choices In an article with this URL Connect to HDMI from your Mac - Apple Support the instruction is given to make sure the HDMI device is selected as a sound output. There is no HDMI option on the new Mac Book Pro. There seems to be no way to get both Audio and Video output to our TV or soundbar. We get video through the HDMI cable or audio through airplay, but cannot get both. This problem is disappointing because connecting the HDMI cable on the Mac Book Pro that was traded in to the same TV and soundbar produced both audio and video with no problem. How can we get audio and video on the Mac Book Pro that was just purchased new?

How can I pass hi-res audio through my HDMI port Hi, I recently bought (used) a Mac Mini M1 9,1. It is my first Mac (even NUC) to refuse to play 192kHz/24bit audio through HDMI. I run Monterey 12.2.1 and I connect it to my Marantz SR5014 AVR through HDMI (18Gbps Audioquest blueberry cable). It usually plays headless (aka no monitor) but the Audio Midi Setup still only reports 48kHz/24bit as the maximum sample rate. While playing music I never have a display/monitor connected. Is it a hardware or software constraint? Can I simply add the really supported resolutions to a config file and move on? Is there a way to make it understand I only want audio to play through HDMI at any given time or switch between the two? Is there a workaround to play hi res audio one way or another (thunderbolt or otherwise) through HDMI? Can I force hi res audio to pass through the connection and bypass whatever CRAP the OS is doing to the signal? Thanks Stefanos

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.

As the following Apple Support article explains, HDMI output from a Mac may support:

8-channel/24-bit audio at 192kHz, Dolby Surround 5.1, and traditional stereo. Some Mac computers with HDMI ports don't support multi-channel audio.

Connect to HDMI from your Mac.

Please be sure to check the Technical Specifications for your Mac to be sure you have the most accurate information on supported audio output features.
