Software issue with Iphone

My iPhone is having a hard time loading apps like messages and constantly freezing on the home page. Usually, when it freezes the screen turns white or stays the same as the home screen and I can't turn off the phone or restart it. I can sometimes get out of messages but usually, I can't. My messages won't receive until I restart my phone and even then, the phone stops working with messages shortly afterward. It is really hard to use my phone to contact people so I have to rely on computers and other devices to contact them. I have made sure my storage is low and that the software is up to date for ios 16.3. This also happened before I downloaded ios 16.3, I was hoping that the update would fix the errors. I know that the phone is not hacked but now I have no idea what else I could do to fix it. This is the iPhone 12 mini and if you would like the serial number I would be glad to provide that as well.
