iPhone 12 mini iOS 17 problems

I’ve been using iPhones since 2009, generally let my phone update its OS when it wants to and have never had a problem before. Since my 12 mini updated to iOS 17, it’s been generally unstable. Multiple apps are having intermittent problems, calling and texting have both failed and required a restart. Even turning off doesn’t always work - have to go through settings. Screen sometimes goes blank on various apps. I’ll upgrade the phone if I have to but from what I’m reading this is an iOS problem and switching to a newer phone won’t necessarily fix it (and the new phones are all too big anyway).

The problems are getting worse, slow downs, pretty much freezing sometimes. Having to restart - when I can, sometimes it won’t even do that the usual way and i I have to shut down through settings. I reckon that phone is dying - time for a replacement. It didn’t last as long as my last one which was a 5, only three years. Not impressed, especially as they don’t have a 14 or 15 in a 4.7”. Means I’ll lose my small phone and have to go bigger. Not a happy move, but I guess a necessary one.

Thanks, I have removed and replaced the SIM card. I guess we'll see over the next few days if it is stable again or if it still gives intermittent problems. I must admit, I am not expecting it to change, the start of the problems seemed to coincide with the IOS upgrade so it seems far more likely that this is the root cause - but we'll see.

calling and texting have both failed and required a restart.

Start here:

1.

Remove and reinsert the SIM card.

If it doesn't help visit your carrier, maybe the SIM card is damaged, ask for a replaced (new) card. Normally it is free.

Ask also to check if the SIM tray is bent, as even a tiny misalignment can cause the SIM card to not fully connect with the internal contacts in your iPhone.
