Kernel Panics

Hi Im having issues where my 2019 16inch macbook is running extremely slow.

I was running ventura and down graded back to monterey to see if it would help but it did not

I have reset SMC and NRAM and also erased partion from recovery and reinstalled OS

When pulling up activity manager kernel_task is usually running from 300-700%

No issues were found in hardware test

I just did an EtreCheck scan and attached report

Hey Grant, really really appreciate your time and thanks so much for the glossary of terms!

Good idea on the show all

For my bootcamp drive I am getting

Performing fsck_apfs -y -x /dev/rdisk1s2

error: container /dev/rdisk1 is mounted.

File system check exit code is 65

Restoring the original state found as mounted.

File system verify or repair failed. : (-69845)

and for the container disk above it above it

Checking storage system and repairing if necessary and if possible

Performing fsck_apfs -y -x /dev/disk0s3

Storage system check exit code is 65.

Storage system verify or repair failed. : (-69716)

I was using this 100gb partion for bootcamp and then i erased it to use it for time machine but i dont have a real need for it other than that

you have experienced crashes in backups, crashes in Disk Utility, and problems with bird -- the daemon that syncs with iCloud.

You are currently committing a LOT of resources to mds, msdworker and similar used for Spotlight indexing AND Time Machine backup management.

My suspicion is that you have a disk directory problem.

You should launch disk Utility, view by devices, and repair each and every item that can be repaired.

Im not sure what mds is but i will do my research.

I just did my first time backup ever cause i was going to try some more extreme routes

The message i got was

The volume /dev/rdisk2s2 appears to be OK.

File system check exit code is 0.

Restoring the original state found as mounted

mds is the metadata server. mdworker is the daemon that helps compute that metadata index.

Spotlight indexing is the process where your Mac pre-indexes every word in every document and as a side-effect creates a scoreboard called the File System Event Store. The File System Event Store is data structure that quickly reveals what files have changed recently.

The File System Event Store is essential to FAST backups using Time machine, because changed folders can be instantly identified. . Any app that syncs SHOULD be using the File System Event Store.

But alas, hird-party file syncers ported from Windows generally ignore the File System Event Store, and are forced to search your entire drive looking for changed files. This demotes such third-party file syncers to only slightly better than Virus Scanners in terms of wasting computer resources for nothing.

when an item can not be repaired because it is in use, you may have to run the repair from Recovery, and failing that from Internet Recovery, where more than 25 RAM disks are created to hold temporary items and the disk is left COMPLETELY free to be repaired or erased.
