Mac OS Ventura - Microsoft Word 365 - Hide Extensions doesn't work

Despite everything I do every time I save the document that has autosave option the word filename always has the extension and it's very annoying. If I hide the extension then edit the file in word the extension comes back up. The function "hide all file extensions" completely ignores word documents. The only way to hide word document extensions is individually but the extensions come back every time I edit the document. What should I do?
