iPhone stolen unlocked, what measures to take.

My phone was recently snatched out of my hand while unlocked. First thing the thieves have done is remove it from FindMy iPhone.

I have managed to freeze the SIM (the phone isn't carrier locked however_ and regain access to my Apple ID. The phone is not showing up on the devices list when logging into my Apple ID.

Is there any chance my iCloud notes, photos etc are still being shared with that phone? Are there any other measures I should take?

You can't reset the Apple ID login without knowing the current one so you can log out of it.

They didn't need any type of password to view your email, contacts, photos or any other info you can get at when it's already at the desktop (unlocked state). Once there, all they need to do is keep it open by not allowing the phone to go into standby.

This is the thought that just occurred to me!

I don't want to click the Find My toggle off to find out for sure because I don't want to have to setup my Apple Wallet again and I'm thinking that they'd be the first thing that would be dumped.

But... If you toggled off Find My, wouldn't you need to enter your passcode, or password, or have Face ID recognition at the very least?

Resetting Face ID also requires knowing the current passcode before you can proceed. How did they get this information?

The only time it wouldn't ask is if you never set a passcode to begin with, which is a very bad way to set up a mobile device. Without one, the crooks would have been asked to first create a passcode, and could then of course easily proceed to changing Face ID.

Yes, you can do that. But it also erases the phone. When it asks, you can set up a new passcode and Face ID. This does the crooks no good since it's basically a blank phone. In step five (link below), you can then restore the backed up data.

But, you still need the Apple ID and password (step 6). And yes, I have done this before. You can't actually access the restored data until you log back into your account.
