Were I you, I'd upgrade first to Catalina and evaluate the function of my apps. Catalina requires 64-bit software, and you may find that you'll need to update/upgrade some things. Install Catalina, update it to its fullest, then make the move to Ventura.

Use the free utility Go64 to check the compatibility of your apps:

✅ - IF your Mac and apps are compatible, then using Safari only, download the macOS upgrade installer app:
Click > Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey or Ventura.
Once downloaded, double-click the “Install macOS…” app in the Applications folder to begin the upgrade.
