Off-brand charger no longer working

I bought an off brand charger and its been working flawlessly for the past few weeks but all of a sudden this morning whenever I plug it into my phone, it says "This accessory may not be supported."

It was working last night, and I audibly hear the charging tune whenever I plug it in - so the charger is without a doubt connecting. I tried charging my phone with an apple charger and it worked and I also plugged my off brand charger into my phone and then powered it off simultaneously and an hour or two later I turned it back on and it was fully charged!

I've also recently updated my phone so the only conclusion I can come to is that apple is restricting me from using off brand chargers by purposefully not allowing my phone to recognize them.

If anyone can help me regarding this issue that would be swell.

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today.

We can only advise contacting the manufacturer of the charger for advice. Trying the official charger isolated the issue to the third-party one. We also advise looking for the Made for iPhone labeling seen here: Identify counterfeit or uncertified Lightning connector accessories.

You may also want to check the contacts on the charging cable to make sure they are clean, try using a different charging cable and the Lightning port on your phone to make sure there is no lint or other debris in the port that may be interfering with the connection.

If the charger and phone can't properly speak to one another for whatever reason you will see this message.
