Camera Washes Out Color In Close Up Photos of Large Similar Color Areas

This has been a problem with all my iPhone cameras. Same issue with iPhone 7 and my new iPhone14Pro. I'm shooting fabrics on a table top, usually if I leave a section of the image with a light background I'm okay - but if I move in for a close up on the fabric the color all washes out. I'm shooting in RAW now hoping that would help but even then this happens. Here is an example. I shot the image on the left, then just moved a bit closer and the color washed out. Sometimes if I move really fast between aiming at the floor and back to the table I can catch the color - otherwise all the true color saturation is lost..... Is there a setting I can use?

Below I shot the fabric with lots of lighter canvas behind, looks great, moved to the right slightly all the color saturation is gone?

Hello AghIHateThis,

We recommend locking the exposure on your iPhone so that the lighting in your fabric photos is more consistent. The following section of the iPhone User Guide explains how: Use iPhone camera tools to set up your shot - Apple Support

Take care!
