Troubleshooting an Overheating iPhone:

There are likely too many processes taking place. So, power off the phone, to let it cool, and then try clearing space.

Try the following:

A. Cool Down the iPhone:

For a few hours, perform the following...

  • Power Off: the iPhone for a bit
  • Unplug: any Cables
  • Place it Atop: Laptop Cooler
  • Keep it in: an open space
  • Keep it Out of: direct sunlight

B. Clear Space:

C. Close All Apps:

An app is probably trying to do something in the background. As a result, things are overheating due to system resources being swollen up. So, hold you finger down as you swipe up. Then, close all of these open apps, by swiping up quickly for all apps that popup.

D. Updating your iPhone:

Update Using a Computer: Try using a computer to update. Go here: Update your iPhone Using a Computer - User Tip. If any updates are available they will install, sure enough.
