How do you transfer movie files from a Canon FS300 camcorder to my MacBook Pro? I would hope there's an Apple free program for that, and also a file conversion free program to help do this simple task......

This camera stores video files on a removable SD card inserted in the camera

  • Power the camera with the mains power adapter if available
  • Connect the camera to the Mac using the supplied USB Cable
  • Power the camera on and open a Finder window on the Mac
  • Click on the Camera entry in the side bar of the Finder at the bottom of the list under locations
  • Drag and drop the video files on to the desktop

If you have an external SD card reader, you could remove the SD card, place it in the reader and transfer the files, again using a finder window
