email not syncing

I use my gmail account on my iPhone and MacBook. I delete emails from my iPhone every day, several times per day. In the past, these emails would also me moved to the trash in my MacBook. now they suddenly, are not. what is the solution?

Also forcing us to choose a topic is super annoying as not all issues fit into a topic or may be relevant to more than one topic, or maybe we aren't sure what topic!
