how to back up mac studio to a backup hard disk in my mac pro
I want to be able to back up my new mac studio to a backup drive in my 2010 mac pro. Is this possible? If so, how so?

Quite possible, provided the Destination drive is on a Mac running MacOS 10.13 High Sierra or later. I keep a Server Mac Pro on my home network, and that is how I back upon my wife's MacBook Pro.
Setting it up is fussy. you need to follow this guide precisely.
