Replace the battery, non OEM.

Ok so I have a iPhone 12. I had the battery replaced today at a good shop i always use. It’s obviously not a OEM apple battery. It’s a higher capacity one. Now I’m getting the annoying pop up message of ‘unknown part’ and it won’t show my battery capacity under settings. I never had this happen before on my iPhone 8 Plus, SE 2020 or iPhone X when I replaced the battery. What gives and how can I resolve this? I really shouldn’t have to pay Apple for a stock replacement.

Does the error message and pop up go away? Is there a way to reset this? This is very annoying to say the least.

Hi fixxxer2022,

We see you have a question about the Unknown Part alert you're seeing, and we have a link with some good information about this: iPhone parts and service history - Apple Support

Since the battery was replaced with a battery that's not a genuine Apple part, it's normal to see that message. The only way that message could be removed is by having a genuine Apple battery installed at an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider. However, we do want to note that while you'll see that alert as long as the battery in question is installed in the device, it will not affect the usage of your iPhone:

These messages don't affect your ability to use your iPhone, its battery, display, or camera.
