Fix "Find my Iphone"

Just today, I couldn't locate my current Iphone. I have "Find my Iphone" turned on and Location Services on. I work from home, and frequently misplace it in another room. I went to my Ipad (as per usual) went to settings, found my current Iphone listed and when I touched it, instead of finding the usual "Find My Iphone" with map option, it is only giving me the device serial number and information and asking if I want to remove it. There is suddenly no option to "find my Iphone" anymore. I haven't updated my phone or ipad or changed anything. I tried doing a hard boot on both my Iphone and my Ipad (after I found my Iphone that is!). I tried signing out of my Apple ID on my Iphone and signing back in. The "find my Iphone" option is still missing even though it is showing as a connected device when I locate it from my Ipad. What am I missing? Thx in advance.

Hey lark37,

We'd recommend removing your iPhone from Find My and re-adding it to see if that helps. This article explains how: Remove a device from Find My on iPhone - Apple Support

"Remove a device from your Devices list

If you’re not planning on using a device, you can remove it from your Devices list. The device must be offline in order for you to remove it.

The device appears in your Devices list the next time it comes online if it still has Activation Lock turned on (for an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or Apple Watch), or is paired with your iOS or iPadOS device (for AirPods or Beats headphones).

  1. Do one of the following:
    • For an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or Apple Watch: Turn off the device.
    • For AirPods: Put AirPods in their case and close the lid or turn the AirPods off.
    • For Beats headphones: Turn off the headphones.
  1. In Find My, tap Devices at the bottom of the screen, then tap the name of the offline device.
  2. Tap Remove This Device, then tap Remove."

Thanks!
