Deleting Twitter account created using AppleID

I see lots of threads with this question but none with the correct answer.

if you have created your Twitter account using your AppleID, you will not know the password. To deactivate and delete your Twitter account you need the password.

To delete it, follow these steps:

  1. go to your settings / Account / Password & Security / Apps using AppleID
  2. Find Twitter, and click on it
  3. copy the long random email address
  4. open Twitter in a browser. Not using the app, it has to be a browser
  5. log in with a username, paste the anonymised email address, and click “forgot password”
  6. go through the process to reset it, Twitter will email the code to the random email which Apple will forward. I had to do this twice to get it to actually work.
  7. open the Twitter app, you will be logged out, log in manually using the anonymised email and the password you just set
  8. now follow the Twitter process by going to your account and deactivating using the password you just set.

Done

iPhone 12 Pro Max, iOS 16
