Overheating iPhone 13 Pro after upgrading to 16.2

I have an iPhone 13 Pro that in the last 3 weeks is overheating daily after I upgraded to iOS 16.2. When the overheating happens the phone is usually on but is not always being used. It might get hot when being charged but many times it charges without getting hot. Several times I have grabbed my phone out of my purse and it is hot to the touch even though it is in sleep mode - not totally cycled off but black screen. This is a daily occurrence. When it happens I shut down the phone completely until it cools. Once the phone was being charged and posted an alert that it was too hot to charge. I now have notice that 16.3 is available but not sure I should upgrade until this overheating issue is resolved.

You should absolutely update to iOS 16.3. And see this article.
