Is it possible to trim multiple clips at the head?

Hi,

In my workflow I always need to trim multiple clips in my timeline at the head (20-30 clips). I know there is a possibility to do Control-D and then use the +- sign to trim the clips, but this is only at the end of the clip.

Is there a way to do the same the head of the clip? Maybe something with a luna script using commandpost? I don't have any Luna knowledge at all, just know that it exists.

Thanks in advance.

I am not sure I understand correctly: you have several clips for which you want to adjust duration - let's say, to 10 seconds. Using Control-D would adjust from the end the clips, but want a similar adjustment, but from the start. Is that it?

So, for example, if you have two clips, of 12 and 15 seconds, you want to make them both 10 seconds by trimming the left side rather than the right?

Here is a possible way to do it:

0) Select the clips to adjust

1) Reverse the clips: Modify->Retime->Reverse Clip

2) Adjust duration: Control-D and enter the new duration

3) Reverse the clips again

To speed things up, you would want to add a keyboard shortcut to Reverse Clip.

It may be possible to automate this further using CommandPost, but I have not mastered this sort of skill.

Anyway, with a keyboard shortcut it is pretty easy to do, say:

Command-Control-Shift-R, Control-D, type, enter, Command-Control-Shift-R

Thank you for the suggestion. I've been doing this per clip, until now it is the fastest I've found - however there are always many clips I need to do. Doing it vertically I would need first to stack them all and then rearrange them again on the timeline. I'm looking more for something like Control-D where I can do it without all of those actions.

I'm sorry — I misunderstood!

You can use Control - D to change the duration of all selected clips, but as far as I know, you cannot trim clips from either end that are not aligned some way to the playhead position.

There are controls to trim clips by range selection, but as far as I know, only one range at a time is allowed.

For the "many clips", you could Control-D, set their durations, then select the Trim tool to individually adjust their contents with a slip edit.

I'm not familiar with CommandPost, so I can't help you there.
