Can’t open lists in Reminders on Apple Watch

I have the Apple Watch Series 8. Reminders have suddenly stopped working.

I can view the titles of my lists, and the lists are synced.

But I can’t open a list to view the items on it. Tapping the list does nothing. I can't mark items complete or incomplete, I can’t edit items, and I can only add an item to the main “Reminders” list whereas before I could add items to any list.

I can only add / remove / edit reminders using Siri or by using my phone.

The only recent changes I can think of are that I created 5 more lists, I enabled iCloud Drive on my phone, and I shared a Reminders list to collaborate with someone.

My iPhone software is up to date. My watch software was up to date as of 2 days ago.

Greetings Taki5

Thanks for connecting with Apple Support Communities.

We understand that Reminders is not working as expected on your Apple Watch even after completing the update. The following steps may be able to help resolve this issue:

  1. Restart your devices. This may seem like a simple step but can often resolve several issues:

"Restart Apple Watch

  • Turn off your Apple Watch: Press and hold the side button until the sliders appear, tap the Power Button, then drag the Power Off slider to the right.
  • Turn on your Apple Watch: Hold down the side button until the Apple logo appears.

Note: You can’t restart your Apple Watch while it’s charging.

Restart the paired iPhone

  • Turn off your iPhone: For models with Face ID, press and hold the side button and a volume button, then drag the slider to the right. For models without Face ID, press and hold the side or top button until the slider appears, then drag the slider to the right. With any model, you can also go to Settings > General > Shut Down.
  • Turn on your iPhone: Hold down the side or top button until the Apple logo appears."

2. Unpair and erase your Apple Watch, then set it up again.

We hope this helps.

Have a wonderful day!

Rebooting the watch alone worked for me. My Ultra 2 was not working while my Watch 7 was syncing and opening lists fine. ( I interchange wearing watches midday or so--my solution to battery anxiety as I'm a heavy user of high battery apps during the day. Having a fully charged standyby is my habit--at least until Apple makes a true "40 hour battery under heavy use")
