Notes app drain my battery?

Dear all

I suspect, that my Notes app use alot of battery. I have all my 1000+ notes in the iCloud notes folder.

I have tried looking in the Battery settings, but it does not give me a clear answer.

Everytime I open the Notes app, the little wheel next to Icloud spins.

Sometimes, when I open the Notes app, the phone battery drops several %.

1.

Can I make the Notes app use less battery?

2.

Can I make the Notes app only download / upload / sync, when the phone is charging?

I have following Notes settings:

Settings > Notes > Accounts > Download new data:

Push is off

iCloud / Contacts, Notes : Download

Download

Automatic is selected

3.

When the Notes app is closed, does it still use battery and internet?

My iPhone is several years old, but the battery does not usually drain so fast suddenly. When I use other apps, the battery consumption is "normal".

Thank you

iPhone 6s, iOS 15

Hi Oblivion99,

When checking Settings > Battery for app usage, does Notes not show in that list? Or does the amount of battery used seem drastically different from real world experience?

As to your questions, the wheel spinning indicates it's updating its connection to the iCloud server, this is normal on first opening the Notes app.

Additionally, there is not an option to only allow notes to sync or update when on the charger, however you can make sure that it only updates when you open it.

Under Settings > General > Background App Refresh, toggle Notes off. This way Notes will only update when it is actively open.

Let us know if that helps and we'll continue from there.

Cheers!
