Mac mini M2 Pro Monitor refresh rate and resolution issue with HDMI 2.1

Good day everybody,

I'ma finding this problem: When connecting my Huawei Mate view 18 with thunderbolt cable everything is ok and the refresh rate stays at a solid 60 hz as per monitor specs. but when I try with a 8k certified HDMI 2.1 cable the refresh rate goes to 50 hz.

This is particularly noticeable when moving the muse and looking at movies.

I've already tried with two different certified cables.

How do I fix this?

Thanks.

Hey Ginaccio,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Try the following from Change your Mac display’s resolution - Apple Support to see additional resolution options.

"Set the resolution for a connected display

If you have more than one display, additional resolution options are available after the other display is connected.

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Displays  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
  2. Select the display you want to adjust, then select the resolution you want to use.

You may be able to turn on “Show all resolutions” to see additional resolutions for the display."

All the best.
