IOS 16 keeps asking me to sign into Apple ID

Every few days, I get a pop up message saying I need to sign into my Apple ID. I sign in and it happens again a few days later. This started when I upgraded to IOS 16. I keep hoping it will stop with each new update but I'm at 16.3 and it is still doing this.

I tried all the suggestions like check out apps that may need updating that use the Apple ID. That didn't change it. I have turned the phone off and on before signing back in, after signing back in and that didn't work. I'm not sure what to do next.

The one thing left that I think it could be is that I am not using the two factor authentication. Each time I am prompted to sign back in (every few days), it wants me to set that up. I don't want to do that because I may not be near another device if/when I need to use the two factor authentication. Does anyone think this is why I keep getting logged out of my Apple ID and have to sign in again every few days? Is Apple trying to get me to use the TFA?

Hi Toobusy2,

For help with your Apple ID it's only required to enter a two-factor authentication if this feature is enabled. You can find more information below from the article here: Manage Apple ID settings on iPhone

"Sign in with your Apple ID

If you didn’t sign in during setup, do the following:

  1. Go to Settings .
  2. Tap Sign in to your iPhone.
  3. Enter your Apple ID and password.
  4. If you don’t have an Apple ID, you can create one.
  5. If you protect your account with two-factor authentication, enter the six-digit verification code."

You can also find out more about two-factor authentication from the article here: Two-factor authentication for Apple ID
