I can't get notifications when my watch is charging and my phone is in my pocket

Does any at Apple realise the flaw in this design? I get that if my phone is locked, maybe I don't want to be bothered by it because my watch will notify me. But there's 2 big problems... First, if I put my watch on the charger and then go upstairs, my phone stays connected and I miss EVERY SINGLE notification. Second, I must have skin as tough as leather because sometimes I don't even feel my phone vibrate, and then I miss notifications again. At this point, i think my only solution is to throw the watch in the garbage because I've missed a ton of important messages and calendar notifications. The watch is causing me many more problems than it solves.

Watch app on iPhone, My Watch, Notifications

On each type set as custom and turn off notifications then they always go to the phone. Start with the important ones

I have no idea why you get them on a watch you are not wearing unless you have turned off Wrist Detection.

The issue is that when my watch is turned on and my phone is locked, all notifications go to my watch and not my phone. This is an intentional design by Apple. If the watch is connected to the phone and the phone is locked, no notifications go to the phone. So if I take my watch off to put on the charger, or just because I want to take it off, I get no notifications to my phone. It doesn't work for me. I don't like to wear my watch all the time, but I do like to get my notifications all the time.

And I did turn off wrist detection because that's the only solution, but that now means that some of the best features of the watch are inactive. I'd like to be able to leave wrist detection on, but also make sure I get notifications sent to my phone no matter where my watch is.
