Charging M1 13” MacBook Pro through usb-c 3 in 1 adapter

I just bought and onn. USB-C three in one adapter and was wondering if it would be safe to charge my MacBook through the adapter. the box says that it has “100w power delivery pass through charging with 5 Gbps Super Speed data transfer.

i’m using the power adapter that came with my MacBook, which has 61 watts. I would assume that it would work since the adapter allows 100 watts to pass through and the power adapter I have (from apple) gives out 61 watts.

I just want to be sure if this is safe because I’ve heard about usb hubs frying m1 Mac chips and wouldn’t want this to happen. Is there anywhere where I can confirm in the system report how much is being sent to the system and if the power is sufficient?

Hi pizzasloth82,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today.

You can read more about how to Charge your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.

Generally we recommend charging with official Apple chargers. While we won't know specifics of your third-party charger, we'd advise contacting the manufacturer and finding out more regarding how they work with Apple products.

Have a fantastic day!
