Why does Roku TV show under my iCloud devices?
So internet on my phone was running incredibly slow. I grabbed my wife’s phone which is identical, and did some simple tests, chose some totally random things to search that neither of us would have cached in safari, and found I was right. Some sites loaded almost instantly on my wife’s while mine would have a 4-5 second lag, some longer.
I did the usual stuff, cleared cache, restarted, checked safari settings. Same result.
came across a rando post by someone that had a similar problem. They said they found a Roku device under their iCloud devices, deleted it, and things sped up.
I looked under mine, I showed 2 Roku devices signed in! Deleted both, now my phone is a bit FASTER than my wife’s. No large lags at all.
so here’s the thing, I have a couple Roku devices that I use, so logic would say, yep, it’s those devices, but I never in my life used a Roku device to sign into iCloud. Nor did I give it permission to. I wouldn’t even know how to do that on purpose.
I have deleted them, so no longer on there, but, can anyone shed light on this? Any idea how this could happen, and why it would slow the internet?
it would seem pretty far fetched that something nefarious was going on by someone that named a device Roku to trick me..
anyways, help is appreciated.
