STExtractionservice

Hello world!

Came across this process on my 2019 iMac Ventura 13.2 and would like to know if it is a valid process and what it is used for. I am concerned that it may be a bogus service.

Much gratitude in advance!

iMac 27″, macOS 13.2

STExtractionService is a system process on macOS that is responsible for handling the extraction of files from archives. When you download or open a compressed file (such as a .zip or .rar file), the STExtractionService process is responsible for extracting the contents of the archive and making them available on your Mac.
