Phone rings instead of my car speakers

I am new to iPhones and I set my phone to ring when connected to my Toyota HiAce van thinking that both would ring as in my van and my phone but only my iPhone rings.

I remember playing around with the settings the other day and did tick my phone to ring when connected but I thought both would ring and now I can't remember what settings I changed.

Can anyone please direct me to the correct settings to set it back so my Van rings instead of my iPhone?

Hi Roysrun,

To make sure we're on the same page, can you clarify the following?

Does your vehicle use Apple CarPlay? You'd see an iOS like interface on your cars dash if so.
The iPhone does ring out of its built-in speakers, but not the cars internal speakers? If so, does the iPhone still play music through the cars speakers?
What version of iOS is your device on under Settings > General > About?
