New Mac user here. I am using a cherry kc6000 for my Mac mini M2pro. despite “Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys”. is on, my function keys still work as media keys. I cannot use them as standard function keys. Since I want to play dota 2, I need them to do so. How can I solve this issue?

Did you download the 64bit Cherry Keys software? If you have and it still doesn't work, they may have to update the software for Ventura.
You're welcome. Thanks for clarifying which keyboard you have. As I originally mentioned many third-party keyboards won't switch. I do have a few Mac keyboards from Matias, Satechi & Logitech and none of those will switch.
But see what Cherry has to say.
You might try toggling it off and then back on again and then reboot.
FWIW, took a look at Cherry Americas website and they make no mention of compatibility with Apple devices so it probably won't work…

To add to previous suggestion
The Connection between the Mac Mini and the External Display is by what method.
Use HDMI cable from Mac Mini to external Display or USB-C connection.
To compare, using M1 Mac Mini via HDMI directly to Asus Monitor.
Using the Apple 2 Keyboard.
The F1 / F2 key will not function as ALL the Controls for Brightness are passed to the Asus Manual Controls in the Display ( Monitor ).

The caveat is Standard using an Apple OEM Keyboard
Using a Third Party Keyboard and all bets are Off.

Make sure this switch is turned ON in order for the Function keys to not work as function keys.
This setting means that the Fn key has to be pressed along with the Function key for it to act as the function key.
Many third-party keyboards cannot switch the function keys. You should contact the maker and see if they do. Although it doesn't sound like it.
The link for the Mac version appears to be dead so you'll have to wait for a reply from Cherry.
external display is connected through usb-c. Brightness functions does not work but my problem is not about brightness.I want to use f keys without their functions like brightness command center play pause etc.
Mailed to the manufacturer as suggested. Since I do not have any additional keyboard, I cannot test it whether it is a keyboard related issue or Mac related. The thing is “Use F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys”. toggle does nothing for now.
