Just like the title says, I’d love to know if there’s some way to turn off the feature that makes a video rewind or jump forward when I swipe across the screen while the video is in fullscreen. I’ve triggered it by accident many times, often while picking up or putting down my phone, and it’s really annoying.

It looks like this has been removed in iOS 17.
(Unfortunately, many people were actually a fan of the feature, myself included, and we'd much prefer if it was made into a toggle setting, so people can choose what works best for them.)
As this is a user to user only forum, telling other users to turn it on, won't get you anything. Apple isn't here on this forum.

Came here for the same thing. It’s such a stupid feature. If I want to prop my phone up to watch hands free, I have to use my index and thumb to get under the lip of my phone case. Can’t believe this made it through.
+1 … horrible feature. Please fix this Apple. There’s a bar in a video for scrolling - just leave it at that. Not every “new feature” is helpful. If you make a screen that goes right up to the edge of a device, making every accidental touch do something that is difficult to quickly undo is not a good “feature”.
Apple: I H-A-T-E this feature. I’ve put up with it until now, but I just can’t stand it anymore. Why would you completely change existing functionality of a gesture and not have a way to revert it through settings??? We *already had* a progress bar in videos along the bottom to scrub through videos — never needed this!
ADD A FEATURE TOGGLE!!!
Apple if you removed this feature because some 258 people aggreed on it, you must add a disagree button and see how many people you upset with removing this feature without asking in iOS17.
You dont have to be so dramatic about "i know what is best for you" and add a option for these kind of features, instead of removing it silently 😭
An update on the opinion: People mostly complain because they swipe by accident. Now swipe toggles fullscreen mode. Now people that dont like the feature still wont be satisfied, and enjoyers of the feature is unpleasant too. Thanks :D

So I think you can still do it another way. I noticed I can swipe on the progress bar to forward/rewind ie I don't have to swipe to the part I want. I can just use one hand and move my thumb on the progress bar in the direction I want the video to quickly go to
I was a big fan of this feature. Now, to rewind a video, I have to use both hands. It’s a pity that the developers didn’t provide an option or at least notify users about the changes. Unfortunately, there’s no way to revert to the previous version.
Bring it Back!
I’m very upset this feature was taken away in the last update (iOS 17). I agree, there should be a toggle button for it; but blanket removal is just as bad as forcing it to everyone. It’s such a helpful feature for single handed users in terms of accessibility.

This feature is absolutely trash!! Needs to be able to be disabled. I am SHOCKED this even passed testing for ADA compliance. Its the worst thing apple has ever done to a UI
You cant disable this? You've got to be kidding thats absurd. This made me regret updating thats outrageous. Im constantly rewinding and jumping forward by accident.
It is an amazing feature especially for one handed use for phone with big screens. Looks like this feature has been taken away in ios17
