I have a pair of wireless noise, canceling headphones from Bose, which work just fine on my iPad. Using the Apple branded adapter 3.5 mm to lightning connector. However, on my iPhone 14 the headphones make a very consistent popping sound whether the noise canceling is turned on or off and this problem is not unique to my phone because my wife also has an iPhone 14 and the problem is evidence there as well.

While it may not be occurring with your iPad, if it's happening on multiple iPhones using the 3.5mm adapter, the issue would either be with the adapter itself or the headphones.
