Printing Problem with Ventura

I recently upgraded from an iMac to Mac Studio with Ventura 13.2. I tried printing to an Epson ET 8550 using large paper, 13X19. The printer was set for 13X19 & the custom size in the Pages App was also set to 13X19. What came out of the printer was only about a 40% section of what should be a full 100% print. I tried many different settings and I could not get the printer to print a full 13X19 page. The printed section measured about 8X11, which is somewhat strange, since that is a letter size. Then I converted my Pages document to a pdf & tried printing to a 13X19 setting with the same result, I also tried printing using Powerpoint and still no Luck.

Then I went back to my iMac and I could successfully print the 13X19 Document using Monterey OS.

Another printing problem occurred when I attempted to print to a Canon MF 4880. The print came out looking like it was reduced in size to about 40%. I was printing to some pre printed checks, so this wouldn't work. I tried many different presets in the print settings and I couldn't find the 100% setting. I finally gave up and went back to my iMac and printed my checks.

I spent all Sunday trying to get both printers to print with my new Mac Studio. I don't know if the problem is with Ventura, the print drivers or the Mac Studio, but it's frustrating. I've been reading about some preset problems.

Hey there fransantaclara,

It sounds like you may need to make changes to the scaling of your print job. Following, Change page output options before printing on Mac

"Some applications, such as TextEdit, have a Page Setup dialog that you can use to specify which printer to use and paper size in the printer. The Page Setup dialog has different options depending on your printer and the app you’re using. Some apps don’t use a Page Setup dialog."

"Reduce or enlarge the printout by entering a percentage.

If you’re printing a document to a paper size that’s different from the size the document was formatted for, select the “Scale to fit paper size” option in the Print dialog."

Have a good one!

The print dialogue under Ventura is awful and bug-ridden. The print range option often doesn't doesn't work: it defaults to the range 1:0 which is obviously invalid. Often I can't set the second value at all and have to resort to the 'selection' option. A more serious issue however is scaling. The print dialogue seems to default to scaling to fit paper, and has no option to manually set the scale to 100%. I currently have to manually work out from a test print what scaling factor I have to use to increase the print size to achieve 100%, which is wasteful of paper, ink and time. I often wonder whether Apple deliberately launch each new OS in order to get users to find basic bugs that should be picked up in development.
