Full battery yet iCloud photo sync keeps pausing to save battery power

I have been trying to sync my photos to iCloud for days now. Aside from being painfully slow, it keeps pausing the sync because it wants to preserve battery power. My phone is it at 100% charge. I do not need to conserve battery power. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

Hello cannedfresh,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.

Please check that Low Power Mode is disabled as this feature will pause your iCloud Photo Library from syncing: Use Low Power Mode to save battery life on your iPhone or iPad

It is also suggested to have a backup of your iPhone and the latest version of iOS installed. Click here for instructions: Update your iPhone or iPad

You may also want to try syncing when your iPhone is connected with Wi-Fi. If you would like to sync using cellular data, be sure that the Photos app has access in Settings > Cellular on your iPhone: View or change cellular data settings on iPhone

Please reply back here if you continue to notice that your Photos library does not sync as expected with your iCloud account.

Cheers!

Hello JJRASC,

Thanks for your reply. I was unable to make an update to the most recent version when I first posted this post. At the time my phone was only a month old.

I had checked the low power mode and wifi settings, etc.

I had spoken to customer support on the phone and they were unable to help.

The battery saving mode was showing up on my iPhone when I had many photos to sync after being disconnected from then net for a few weeks. It took 3 days for the sync to finish and I have since safely performed the update. I am unable to replicate the issue as I do not have many photos to sync. The update may have helped. I will keep note if it persists.

Thanks again!

I have a similar issue. iPhone 13 Pro on iOS 16 will not sync photos to iCloud consistently. More weirdly it did upload some recent photos and videos, but all photos from 7 to 27 March are stuck. It is now trying to upload these 426 images according to the status bar but nothing happens.

i’ve read and tried all suggestions re battery, settings, storage and wifi but no luck.

Will appreciate any help! Thankyou
