Walkie-Talkie Connection Failing

My friend and I have been trying to use the walkie-talkie function and while she is able to speak to me whenever, without problems, when I try to send her a message it says "connection failed" although she always has her walkie-talkie activated and is always connected to wi-fi.

All the Facetime/Imessage settings on the Iphone seem fine and we have even tried sending the friend request again and it still does not work...

Any suggestions please?

Hey there _ada99,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

To get started, it sounds like you've had a chance to go through the steps listed in the following resource under the "Get help" section, is that correct: Use Walkie-Talkie on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If you don't see the Walkie-Talkie app
1. FaceTime is required for Walkie-Talkie to work, so if you've deleted it, re-download FaceTime on your iPhone. Open the App Store on your iPhone, search for FaceTime, then tap the download button the Download icon
2. Make sure that FaceTime is turned on. Open the Settings app, tap FaceTime, then turn on FaceTime.
3. Open the FaceTime app. To make sure FaceTime is set up correctly, try making a call.
4. Restart your Apple Watch.
5. Restart your iPhone.

If you have FaceTime on your iPhone and don't see the Walkie-Talkie app on your watch, you might have deleted it. Open the App Store on your Apple Watch and re-download it.
FaceTime is not available in all countries or regions.

If you're having issues sending and receiving invitations
1. On your iPhone, open the Settings app, then tap FaceTime. Make sure that you're signed in with your Apple ID. Under You Can Be Reached By FaceTime At, make sure that your email address is selected.
2. Restart your Apple Watch.
3. Restart your iPhone.
4. Try to send the invitation again. On your Apple Watch, open the Walkie-Talkie app, swipe left on the contact, then tap the delete button . Tap the plus button , then choose the same contact.

If you have, are you and your friend currently updated to the most recent iOS and watchOS version available for your devices? If not, since updating can often bring the latest bug fixes, we would recommend updating and test the issue again. For help with updating your devices, check out the links below:

If the issue persists after going through the steps above, and your devices are updated to the latest software versions, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly from this link here for additional help: Contact - Official Apple Support

Take care!
