cannot connect to ethernet after ventura upgrade

I cannot connect to the ethernet (or internet) after the Ventura upgrade! This means a $2000 computer is useless to me. How do i fix this ASAP? I need ethernet to work, not a "creative" solution with Wifi or a dongle (IT does not allow it where this computer resides). And yes it was working right before the upgrade just hours ago, and yes the ISP and router is working. And Yes it is plugged in and on and can navigate to a browser to see a not connected error.

Under network settings the ethernet shows the red circle and "not connected".

  • IT has verified there are no firewall settings that would prevent a physical ethernet connection.

To test this:

  • We unplugged the ethernet cable from the Ventura Upgraded iMac to a non-ventura upgraded iMac and this non-ventura upgraded iMac connected to the ethernet and internet.
  • After putting the ethernet cable back to the Ventrura upgraded iMac, the ethernet still shows not connected.
  • This means the physical ethernet cable and router is working, and the Ventura upgrade is the issue.

Under network settings it shows the red circle and not connected. The mac address has not changed i will reach out to them to see if they register something with the OS. I would have expected a "connected" circle, but then the router blocks the port if the Mac Address and whatever else doesn't match as expected therefore the internet fails. I do not believe they turn off the port automatically if it cannot verify the credentials, because we would have had this happen any time some one plugs in a device to the "wrong" port.
