Is there a fix for Bose Companion 5 speaker system disconnecting from Mac Studio computer running Ventura?
After months of tying EVERYTHING, checking ALL of System Settings, and buying a new USB B to USB C cord, my Bose Companion 5 Multimedia Speaker System disconnects if I switch output speakers withy Studio Display or use my headphones, sleep my Mac Studio, or shut it down. If I want to hear my Bose, I must either unplug/replug the Bose cord or restart my computer - even after booting up in the morning! I have even removed my hubs and all but necessary connections (printer, scanner). Also, I used Etre Check to find and remove all old files.
I called Bose, and they say that "it's an Apple problem," and to call Apple, which I have done - 6 times, including speaking to a supervisor! My only work around is to never sleep the computer ("Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off") and use a Hot Corner to turn my display off. Let me also add that, when all my speakers don't work, either does the Books app or the Music app.
My speaker system works great - when it works! I have used it, with no problems, on my 2009 Mac Pro, my 2012 Mac Pro, and my 2019 iMac, with all iterations of Mac OS. BUT...this Mac Studio - when running Monterey and now Ventura - constantly disconnects my Bose! At times, it even disconnects the speakers in my Studio Display. Switching Thunderbolt ports also does not help.
I have always been aware that this particular Bose system was designed not to interact with any sound card, which has never before been a problem. Is it not waking the USB Thunderbolt ports after sleep or shut down? Is this a software problem and, if so, why hasn't Apple come up with a fix yet? My computer and its display are very costly and, that being so, I believed that it would be as capable as my Mac Pros were. So...why can't I use my (also costly) Bose speaker system?
ANY suggestions will be gratefully accepted!
