How do I disconnect my AirPods from my previous account that I forgot the password to and can no longer log in

The best way is to recover the password on your old Apple ID:
If you forgot your Apple ID password
Then, go to cloud.com and log in with your old Apple ID and password. Then go to Devices and find AirPods and remove them.
At that point you should be able to connect them to your new Apple ID:
Connect your AirPods and AirPods Pro to your iPhone
