iPad no longer sends or receives messages from/to Android phones

i have an iPad 12 Pro and an iPhone 13 Pro Max. I had no issues texting from either device but suddenly the iPad no longer sends to or receives texts from non-Apple phones. Both devices are current on updates. My messages are forwarded to my iPad in my phone settings and the ‘Send as SMS when I messaging isn’t available’ setting is turned on. I did not change any settings before the issue started. Any help would be appreciated. 😊

If you have an iPhone - and both iPad and iPhone are signed-in to iCloud with the same AppleID - to send SMS/MMS messages (green bubbles) from your iPad you must explicitly enable Text Message Forwarding for your iPad on your iPhone...

On your iPhone:

Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding - set to ON - and explicitly enable your iPad from the list of devices.

Also ensure that Messages in iCloud is enabled on both your iPhone and iPad:

Settings > [Your Name / AppleID] > Messages - set to ON
