new iPad doesn't show up in Mac finder

If you connected your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac using a USB cable and don’t see it in the Finder sidebar, check the following:

- Check that the cable is properly connected. When your Mac and device are connected correctly, you should see that your device is charging. 

- Make sure that the device is unlocked and the Home Screen is visible.

- Check that Finder settings are set to show your device in the sidebar.
